Volunteers like you are the heart of our organization. Our volunteers work alongside our homeowners and help them on their journey toward homeownership. There are numerous ways to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity of Sanford (whether as an individual or a group).
Volunteer your time at our build site
Our homes are built almost entirely by volunteers, both skilled and unskilled. Whether you are a contractor or have never picked up a hammer in your life, we need your help. All the equipment and safety gear you need for the day are provided and no previous experience is necessary.
Volunteer at the ReStore
Do you want to give back to others? Are you looking for a way to complete student volunteer hours? Volunteer at our Store that sells new and gently-used renovation, household materials and more! Volunteers help receive and sort donations, prepare and display merchandise for resale, load/unload donated/purchased items, and assist customers.

Homeowner Selection and Loan Origination
Court Appointed Community Service
Non-violent offenders may complete court-mandated community service hours at the Habitat ReStore.
Regulations for construction
Volunteers at a construction site must be 18 or over. Children 16 & 17 must be accompanied to the construction site by their parent or guardian and are limited in what construction tasks they can complete.
We supply all the safety equipment you will need, hard hats, protective glasses, etc. You are welcome to bring your own. Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes, no flip-flops. Dress appropriately and wear sunscreen.
How You Can Volunteer:
For churches, businesses, organizations, and groups of friends and/or family wishing to join one of our projects, this is a great way to find out if becoming a Core Volunteer is right for you.
If you’d like to help out one day, help with a specific project, or join us for extended periods.
Those who are willing to make a commitment of volunteering regularly at Habitat, at least one day a week.
