Financial Gifts

Master Builders Club Membership Levels

Master Builder:                       $20,000+

Roof Raiser:                            $10,000 – $19,999

Finish Carpenter:                   $5,000 – $9,999

Wall Raiser:                             $1,000 – $4,999

Framer:                                    $500 – $999

Foundation:                             $50 – $499

Join the Carpenters’ Club

Become a Carpenters’ Club member by pledging $25 or more towards each house we build (typically 3-5 each year, starting in 2021). Members receive special invitations to celebrate both the initial Groundbreaking Ceremony and later the Dedication Ceremony, when the home is completed. In addition to meeting the Habitat homebuying families, you will meet people like yourself, who believe in our mission and want to contribute something tangible and needed to our community. Donate Building Supplies

Donate Items to the ReStore

Donate gently used building materials, residential furnishings, décor, appliances, etc. rather than throwing away. It’s a great way to divert usable goods that would have otherwise been destined for the landfill and gives those items a second life.

 

Donations are accepted during store hours or by scheduled pick-up.

Please do not leave items at the front door without ReStore inspection and acceptance.

 

Pick-ups are available on Mondays and Thursdays and are scheduled in advance.

Donation Guidelines

 

In order to better serve our customers, we have specific criteria for acceptable goods. 

This list is subject to change.  Some donations may be declined due to safety concerns, facility limitations or marketability.  Thank you for supporting the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

 

Accepted Items:

Any household item that is in decent condition and resalable.  We also accept items for construction purposes, vehicles and land donations.  

 

Any item may be rejected at the discretion of the Habitat for Humanity Employee

 

Not accepted items:

 

Appliances (Must be plugged in to ensure it works, w/all knobs)

  • Appliances more than 10 years old

  • Dishwashers dated before 2014

  • Gas appliances

 

Baby/Kids items

  • Baby Cribs

  • Car seats expired or recalled

  • Recalled toys, baby furniture etc.

 

Building materials

  • Damaged materials, such as by weather

  • Expired materials

  • Fire extinguishers

  • Fire-rated doors containing asbestos

  • Ladders without legible OSHA safety stickers or with defects

  • Used smoke, carbon monoxide detectors

 

Computers/office equipment/TV’s

  • Computers that have not had the hard drive cleared or more than 8 years old

  • Computer monitors that are not flat screen

  • Printers or scanners

  • TV’s Other than working flat screen

 

Corded window blinds

 

Flammable gases, liquids

  • MAPP, butane, propane, torch fuel, lamp oil, etc.

 

Furniture

  • In poor condition. moldy or not structurally sound, upholstery that is stained, torn, has pet hair or odor

  • Particle board furniture

  • Sleeper sofas.  (Double recliners will be at discretion of Habitat Employee)

 

Lighting

  • Fluorescent light fixtures

  • Halogen (torchiere) lamps

  • Incandescent, fluorescent, halogen, sodium, CL light bulbs

  • Lamps that are broken or with frayed cords

  • Used light bulbs

 

Liquids

  • Bottles with caps missing

  • Leaking or unlabeled containers

  • Used pump sprayers

 

Mattresses, Box springs (Sweet Dreams on Horner takes these)

 

Media

  • Adult themed media, books, magazines, DVD’s posters etc. 

  • Bootleg media of any kind 

 

Other

  • Alcohol of any type

  • Any item missing pieces, such as guards, or with frayed cords

  • Hospital beds

  • Tires

  • Unframed glass and mirrors, unless taped safely

  • Weapons

 

Oversized items

  • Cast iron sinks or tubs

  • Entertainment centers (At discretion of Habitat Employee) 

  • Pianos

 

Paint and Chemicals

  • Any cleaning or other chemicals

  • Any item containing lead paint

  • Oil based, rusty cans or unlabeled less than ½ full

  • Pesticides, Herbicides, Fungicides or Insecticides

 

Plumbing fixtures

  • Faucets (unless new in box with proper marking)

  • Ice Makers (unless new in box)

  • Potable water fitting/fixtures made before 2014

  • Toilets not rated low flow, having greater than 1.6 gallons.  Prefer low flow, others accepted within space limits

Donate a Car

To donate a vehicle to Cars for Homes™ – Habitat for Humanity’s official car donation program, call (877) 277-4344 toll free or visit carsforhomes.org. Cars for Homes™ accepts a majority of cars, trucks, boats, RVs and other vehicles with proper title and ownership information, and makes the arrangements to have your vehicle, keys and title picked up for processing. When you donate a car to Cars for Homes™ you are helping Habitat for Humanity of Sanford build homes in partnership with families right here. Donations are quick and easy, and you may qualify for a tax deduction.

Donate Your Vacant Lot or Acreage

Did you know that you can support our mission and receive a charitable deduction by donating your vacant lot or acreage to Habitat for Humanity of Sanford?  Give the gift of real estate and eliminate the headache of mowing and cleaning your vacant lot or acreage and the expense of paying taxes and insurance.  Habitat is always looking for land to build more affordable homes.

  • Clear title is a must

  •  Ideal sites are flat with access to public streets, water and sewer

  •  We cannot utilize property that is in the floodplain

  • Bake sales/lemonade stands
