A Groundbreaking Partnership for a Stronger Community
We are incredibly proud to recognize Lee County Schools as a cornerstone partner of Habitat for Humanity Sanford Area. This is more than a sponsorship; it's a dynamic collaboration that is directly building a stronger workforce and a better future for our community. Through this partnership, we are empowering students with hands-on experience in skilled trades while simultaneously creating safe, affordable homes for families in Lee County.
Creating Community through Education
Building Homes, Skills, and Futures
This innovative partnership brings students from Lee County and Southern Lee High Schools' Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs directly to our build sites. Under the guidance of professional contractors and our staff, these students gain invaluable, real-world experience in construction trades, including framing, carpentry, and more. This "learn and earn" model provides a tangible path to a fulfilling career right out of high school, equipping them with the skills needed to enter the workforce or pursue higher education.
As our Executive Director, Kimberly Rau, has shared, it's a "beautiful thing" that gives students the chance to learn life skills while contributing to the construction of a home for a family with children attending Lee County Schools. This cycle of building empowers both the students and the families who will one day live in the homes they helped create.
The collaboration with Lee County Schools goes beyond the construction site. It is a shared vision to build a more prosperous and vibrant community.
This partnership is a prime example of how we can combine education and community service to create real, lasting change in Sanford.
